This is the last day of AerialYoga challenge powered by Aerial Arts Festival! It's still not to late to join!
During 7 days we went through 7 topics. Let's see what they were! Day 1: The beginning of your Aerial journey. I first saw a fire 🔥 performance friend of mine hanging on those white elastic fabrics doing crazy things at the Phoenix circus arts center Vienna! 😱She gave us a quick workshop and i thought i would never climb or make a knot. So hard!!!! But i kept on trying every now and then just for fun... until I got hooked, but i never performed on them! Hooping took all my energy! ⭕️ 2013 I participated at the first Aerial Yoga teacher training in Austria 🇦🇹 by @sheila_falk thats where I met @sophie_skywalk The rest is history... 😂🤓 Day 2 The topic is: Your favorite aerial apparatus My favorite aerial apparatus is definitely the aerial hammock! In aerial yoga we use it for so many yummieh postures! I love how it makes the aerial world accessible to every body! But there are also advanced circus 🎪 tricks for higher level - anything you want! Inversions are so easy in it and also fun! I love the soft & silky feeling of the hammock on my skin. Day 3: Your favourite Aerial trick! I love <3 foot locks! There are so many variations... hard to choose one! Very simple poses often look the best! The crazy wraps can easily get messy. They are a great challenge though and no risk - no fun! I love how aerial art makes you feel graceful, beautiful and strong! I remember that when I had a terrible heartbreak in 2011 I started training Aerial Silks almost every day and it made me feel so strong - not only in my body - but also in my mind and heart. I felt like: hey I can actually do this! And if I can do this crazy shit - anything is possible! Day 4: Today: What is your Aerial Nemesis?👿 😲 I found upside down splits so challenging to learn! But I had a great teacher: @jessicajayaerial and a wonderful friend @tka_nina to help me out when I forgot everything! 😵 And then when you finally get it - it's so much fun to get upside down! 🙃 Day 5: Your Aerial style or your inspiration? 😍I love slowmotion and spinning! When i work on a new aerial yoga flow i like to swing if the hanging points allow! My favorite music 🎶 is melodic and has fat beats! Check out my Instagram for some Aerial videos, there you can see my style :) ✅Day 6: What is your greatest Aerial accomplishment? ? For me being able to teach what I love: AERIAL YOGA is my greatest aerial accomplishment! Nothing is more fun than to spread the love for what you are most passionate about! Day 7:: Your future Aerial goal or dream! I always wanted to try Flying Trapeze! But it is really hard to find a setup! Today is also my last day enjoying Barcelona Yoga Conference with my dear friend @justmyyoga 💜 I am full of inspiration for the future! What are your dreams & goals? Are you an Aerial Yoga teacher already but get bored with our own teaching? Are you looking for some new inspiration to enhance your teaching quality? Join me and @sheila_falk in October in Austria: - Level 1: 13. - 19. Oct. - Level 2: 20. - 26. Oct. Love, Lisa How authentic do you think social media are these days? How real does it get? How fake are the pictures you see? How true are the words you read?⠀
⠀ 🔈So I will drop the #truthbomb. What does this mean? Let's be more real and show what we are made of.⠀ ⠀ BE TRUE. BE BRAVE.⠀ ⠀ Every week let's share 3 authentic facts about our personal lives. ⠀ ❤ Things that you are working on⠀ ❤ things about your past⠀ ❤ things you strongly believe in⠀ ❤ things you are seriously questioning⠀ ❤ experiences that shaped your life ⠀ ❤ and so on... ⠀ Let's get to know each other better for real and inspire others to open up as well and embrace everything you are because it makes you special and even more lovable!⠀ ⠀ Here we go, let's see what we have so far: ⠀ 🙋I am forever grateful for the wonderful childhood I had with my mum @carmensgarden, my dad and my sister, growing up in the deep countryside close to the lake of Constance in the very west of Austria.⠀ 🙋My sister Eva is 2 years older and also lives in Vienna! She is the reason I moved to the other side of the country in the year 2000.⠀ 🙋After 10 years of living in Austria's capital, I moved again to the countryside, just 20 km outside of Vienna. I love the small village where I live with my boyfriend in a small house with a garden that we rent. He loves to grow vegetables.⠀ ⠀ 🙋I had to wear braces 😬 at night when I was young for many years. One night i woke up and half dreaming I threw them in the toilet 🤣That’s how much I liked them 😱 🙋When I see beggars on the street I am always torn apart whether to give money or food or nothing at all?? 💵 How much do you give and how often? 💰 🙋My boyfriend is neither yogi nor acrobat which sometimes feels like a challenge🤨 but then again also a blessing! 😇Do you know what I mean? Follow my Instagram if you want to know more about me and share some info about yourself too! Let's get real! Lova, Lisa Aerial Yoga is a lot of fun but that is not the only reason why I love it!❤️
What you need to know about it? Aerial is a very modern yoga type, It was first developed about 10 years ago in the US. It's spreading so fast and that is not a coincidence. There are so many benefits, see further down below! It's a mix of yoga, aerial arts and contemporary dance - what a combo! The #aerialhammock is very durable and can hold up to 1 ton !!! but it's still soft and fluid to support your practice. - For beginners, it helps build up the necessary muscles for holding the poses correctly. - For intermediate students, it allows a very refreshing perspective on traditional Yoga. What are the benefits of Aerial Yoga?: ✔️Improves flexibility ✔️Makes inversions easy and fun, ✔️Helps to relieve the compression in the spine, ✔️When you pull yourself up into the hammock you use muscles that are usually not used in traditional yoga - the perfect balance for all those chaturangas! 💪Very IMPORTANT! You don't need to be a super yogi to start Aerial Yoga. It's totally beginner friendly! So if you'd like to try it now join us here: - weekly classes at @yogafusion_vienna - trial classes @aerialartsaustriafestival this summer! If you would like to deepen your practice and learn more about AerialYoga or even looking for a career change we're going to hold an Aerial Yoga Teacher Training in October. Beginners and intermediate students are both welcomed! 👯Early Bird Ends on 30th of June!👯 Click here for more info! Love, Lisa😘 June is starting with the #essenceofyoga challenge learning about the AcroYoga core principles. However these principles are true in case of all kind of Yoga.
Let's see what are they: 1. Trust “The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.” ― Ernest Hemingway. How does trust influence your yoga practice? The first time I really came across some trust issues in my yoga practice was when I started AcroYoga. For a very good reason, it is also called the yoga of trust! No other practice is so much fun but also teaches you so much about trust: Trusting yourself and trusting others. It can be so hard - but nothing is more beautiful in the end when you manage! What is your experience with trust and yoga? 2. Courage “Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the COURAGE to continue that counts.” ― Winston S. Churchill Stepping out of your comfort zone - how do you handle it in your yoga practice and off the mat? When was the last time you very really brave? Teaching for me is sometimes a challenge because it also means embracing my imperfections. It requires me to be brave enough to stand in front of a class and share my practice without thinking too much about doing or saying the wrong thing. There are always so many things that can go wrong, but over time I have learned to trust my intuition and laugh about myself - that’s always the best medicine. If you are also a (yoga )teacher you probably know what I mean? If you are thinking about becoming a yoga teacher - I can highly recommend the experience - it made me grow so much! 3. Safety “What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?” ― Erin Hanson How do we hold space for each other and take care of our own body? Safety and injury prevention in yoga is a big topic. What are your experiences with it? In AcroYoga we look after each other with our LUNAR practice. It is the relaxing and restorative side of AcroYoga and unfortunately sometimes neglected… but I LOVE it! It should be an essential part of every training session! In the SOLAR = dynamic and acrobatic side of AcroYoga SAFETY is our highest concern at all times. To keep ourselves and others safe while playing we always train with a SPOTTER! In a team of 3 it is also always more fun and we can achieve more together. Being a good spotter is one of the highest qualities you can obtain, you will always be a highly valued training partner! 4 - Respect “Respect yourself and others will respect you.” ― Confucius RESPECT: How important is it in your yoga practice? Respecting our own bodies can be the hardest challenge! How far to push our practice? Where are the limits of our body and mind? To respect means to listen! Active listening to our partners and our own bodies is the first step in the right direction. I have so much respect for the amazing flyer on this picture: Cooper has become a dear brother and he is not only a great listener but also a big inspiration. His strong hugs and infectious laughter are pure medicine. Namaste wise soul! 5 - Inclusion “A lot of different flowers make a bouquet.” — Muslim proverb Do you practice alone at home or prefer the group dynamics of a studio class or AcorYoga jam? What means inclusion to you? 2 is a party - 3 is a crowd! Me and my yoga mat… we have a kind of an interesting relationship. I am easily bored when alone with my mat unless in a challenging class. That’s why I love AcroYoga! Sharing is caring. We like to share yoga mats. Usually 3 people per mat - sometimes more! We like to include everybody - literally every body! Whether young or old, tall or tiny, thin or big - AcroYoga is for everyone! We don’t care about your religion or political opinion. AcroYogs is connecting people around the globe and with this intention, we hope to change the world! Day 6 - Fun “It’s more fun when you’re not the only one having it.” – the Oaqui Which asana puts the biggest smile onto your face? This lovely lady, on the first picture, wonderful @julia_swadharma, not only co-host in this challenge but also co-teacher at the Lunar Immersion in Vienna in November. It will be my first time teaching this format and I just can’t wait to share all the amazing content with you! Having Julia by my side for this adventure makes me truly happy! So glad to have her as my mentor! Day 7 - Presence “Your true home is in the here and the now.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh Today’s topic: PRESENCE. How do you practice stillness and being present? “Some of the most magical moments happen when nothing happens at all!” ― Lisa Looping ;) Finding stillness is an ongoing challenge for me. I like to move a lot. I am very active. It is hard for me to sit still. My dad always said: “You have bumble bees in your bum.” With my meditation practice I have improved a lot already and can more easily find those magic moments when my head gets empty for a short while and my thoughts stop briefly. Even though it seems impossible to control my thoughts completely - just by sitting still I already feel better - more centered and clear! So now I just need to do it more often! :D hahahaha! One step at a time... When doing yoga I forget the world around me for a while. No past, no future. Daily problems have to wait outside. That is for me real presence and a true present to myself. How do you find stillness? What do you think about the Core principles? Is there anything you would add to the list? 🐦🎵Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away🎵🐦
Literally, fly with me! :) When do you feel like taking off, floating above the ground? When you feel that everything is in the right order, everything happens so easily, this is the real feeling of flow. It is like flying, isn't it?🚀 But what is this flow state of mind, anyway? 🕛Being completely focused on what you're doing 🕛Feeling happy and in control 🕛Forgetting about time and the world around you 🕛Being productive and creative Sounds good, right? But how can you get there? According to famous psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi you can achieve to get into this flow state by: 💡Choose a work that you really love (I know, easier said than done ... but it's possible if you believe it!) 💡Get the important things done. Things that will impact your future. It's easy to get lost in details. 💡Get rid of everything that can disturb you in this time, no emails, no cell phone. One task at the time (in spite of the big trend of multitasking) 💡Focus on the task as long as you can 💡And most importantly: ENJOY! This is the state I can get into when I teach. 🤓 🤔 I feel really lucky to have this opportunity! Probably, I like AcroYoga and Aerial Yoga so much because you aren't only flying as a result of your own progress. You don't have to achieve this ALONE! You can literally FLY with a little SUPPORT of the Aerial Yoga hammock or on the safe hands of your AcroYoga partner! Acro & Aerial Yoga is all about Flying isn't it?
"The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it." Peter Pan⠀ ⠀ Arm balances in Yoga are some of the most challenging undertakings. More than any other pose they take a lot of courage and trust ... in your body ... your teacher ... your practice.⠀ ⠀ Crow pose is a great place to start. I only understood how it works until I learned how to engage my core and really pull those knees towards the chest! that made all the difference for me to find balance!⠀ ⠀ 👍Benefits: Crow pose really teaches you how to activate your finger power - which is also key for forearm stand and hand stand.⠀ ⠀ 👍Top tip: Make sure your palms are really flat on the ground, fingers wide spread and all knuckles pressing down - especially the index finger - or as we call it - the naughty knuckle!⠀ ⠀ 👍AcroYoga insight: If you are working towards handstands don't press with your knees from the outside - but rather bring them high up into the armpits for better bone stacking!⠀ ⠀ But most of all: Don't rush it and enjoy the process!⠀ ⠀ But don't worry Vienna days are coming and I'm ready for AcroYoga Spring and Summer.
However saying goodbye to this Island I bring you some pieces from my adventure and the reasons why I love this sacred island so much. One of the best thing in Bali is that tropical fruits are not tropical fruits anymore... just fruits and you can find them everywhere. 🍊 And nature has been very generous with them all year around. They are delightful, exquisite and my favorite breakfast! In the photo you can see my daily morning ritual: copping up smooth papaya and sweet bananas 🍌- the lime for the papaya is essential! Bananas are full of vitamins and give you a fast energy boost whenever it's needed, while papaya's sugar level is very low but still loaded with vitamins and nutrients.😎 Every year I learn more about this fascinating culture, did you know that...⠀ ⠀ 🌴Balinese names are given to children to show the order of birth: ⠀ 1st: Wayan, Putu or Gede⠀ 2nd: Made or Kadek⠀ 3rd: Nyoman or Komang⠀ 4th: Ketut⠀ ⠀ 🌴If a family has more than four children, the cycle repeats ⠀ ⠀ 🌴These names are equally used for male and female and there are no family names which can be very confusing, so people start to add nicknames.⠀ ⠀ 🌴The decreasing tendency in child birth makes the last two names disappear so the government supports to have at least four children in a family.👩👩👧👦⠀ You can meet me in these events next: Journey to Handstand course starting 17:30 April 9th⠀ AcroYoga Intermediate course starting 19:30 April 9th⠀ AcroYoga Beginners course starting 19:30 April 10th⠀ That's all for now and I hope to see you soon in Vienna! ⠀ Inversions are not just super cool poses for social media but most importantly they have so many health benefits: Just a few examples: Inversion are... ❤️strengthening your upper body and core - goodbye back pain! ❤️increasing blood circulation and relieving pressure on your legs ❤️challenging your mind and energizing your spirit ❤️sending energy from the root chakra to the crown chakra ❤️invoking a change of perspective And so on... Okay maybe good for the super cool pictures too 😎 💪 What is your favorite yoga inversion? Tell us in comment below! 👉Come with me on the "Journey to Handstand" - weekly class every Tuesday 17:30 in Vienna starting April My days on this island are busy with yoga, nature and friends! So exciting! Nevertheless finding stillness is an ongoing mission I don’t want to loose out of sight!🧘♀️
Balinese people celebrate a lot of things all year around but ... ... last week they had one of the biggest celebration of all: The Balinese new year, the 'Nyepi day' (a.k.a. Silent day)🎇 🐲Unlike our New Year's day, Nyepi day is dedicated to rest, staying in the house, turning off the lights and keeping quiet for 24 hours. ⚡No entertainment allowed (internet and television are turned off by government). 🌏Nyepi is a day to give the island a break, so Bali can recharge for the new year. Nobody is allowed outside the house or on the streets because the spirits & demons are out! 👺👹👿👻 If you haven't been to a yoga retreat yet, maybe you can start by having a 'Nyepi' day at home. Turn off internet, meditate and be with your loved ones and with your thoughts this weekend!💑 Could you go one day in silence without any sort of entertainment? A virtual detox!
